4-H Summer Camp ~ June 18-21, 2023 ~ 4-H Camp Ohio
Licking County 4-H Families...
We’re excited to provide you with an update on overnight camping opportunities for this spring and summer! Please take a few moments to review carefully, if you may have children interested in attending! All the details you will need are included below!
4-H MINI-CAMP...
First a quick reminder: Mini-Camp registration deadline is THIS FRIDAY, April 21st. If you have a Cloverbud (2nd Grade), or a project member who is anxious or nervous to attend an overnight 4-H Camp, this is the camp for them! We arrive on a Friday evening (May 12th), enjoy an evening of fun and getting to know the facility, stay overnight in a cabin, and then enjoy a morning of sessions and activities common in a resident camp experience. You can find the registration materials online at licking.osu.edu > 4-H Youth Development > Camp Opportunities. Just be sure to get those registration forms to us by Friday!
4-H SUMMER CAMP...
We know many of you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of 4-H Summer Camp registration information. The registration for 4-H Summer Camp will go live on Thursday, April 20th at 7:00pm. The registration will be just as we used last year, this very familiar to many of you. Please take the time needed to read through the following information before registration opens. We hope this information will help to make the registration process run smoothly – and allow you to feel more comfortable with what to expect.
Important detail to keep in mind: Summer Camp “registration” consists of FOUR very important steps! Step #1 – Complete quick online registration survey to ensure your camper has a bed. Step #2 – Submit payment via credit card / check / or submit Camp Scholarship Application. Step #3 - Choose Super Sessions that your child will attend during 4-H Camp (sessions do fill on a first come, first served basis). Step #4 – Complete camper Health Form and Permissions. All four steps must be completed by no later than May 19th. We have space for up to 80 boys and 145 girls...
4-H Summer Camp REGISTRATION:
-
Registration information will be posted on our Camp Opportunities page: https://licking.osu.edu/program-areas/4-h-youth-development/camp-opportunities
-
Registration will take place online. It will consist of four parts: Registration, Fees Payment, Super Session Selection, and completion of Health Form. Registrations are due May 19, 2023.
-
You will complete the registration first. Once that has been submitted, you will receive two emails – one confirming your registration has been completed and the other email will contain links to two additional surveys – that are directly linked to a single child (if registering more than one child, be sure to use the correct confirmation email for each child). The first will be a Session Selection Survey. The second will be the Camper Health Form. PLEASE ensure that you type your email address correctly in the registration as these emails will be sent automatically within minutes of its completion. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please check your junk/spam folder. NOTE: Please do NOT use AUTOFILL function on your cellular device or computer – as you will register you as the parent, rather than the child. We had this happen several times last year...
-
Once you complete the Registration portion of the process, your child’s spot at camp is confirmed. Even though Super Sessions will fill, it is not vital that you immediately complete the Super Session Survey and Camper Health Form.
-
Youth are NOT required to be enrolled as a Licking County 4-H member to attend. Camp is open to 4-H members from other counties as well as those who aren’t involved in 4-H.
-
We do not want the cost of camp to be a hinderance for any youth to attend camp. If your family has a financial need to help your child(ren) attend camp, please complete a Camp Scholarship Application. Youth must be enrolled as a Licking County 4-H Member to be eligible for a Camp Scholarship. These applications are due by Friday, May 12, 2023 and can be found on the Camp Opportunities page linked above.
4-H Summer Camp PAYMENT:
-
When completing the registration, you will have three options to choose from for payment:
-
Pay by credit card through our online payment portal (Nelnet)
-
Pay with cash or check in our office
-
Defer payment for now by submitting a Camp Scholarship Application (due May 12, 2023)
-
-
The fee for summer camp registration is $215 per camper. Thanks to a VERY generous donation from The Licking County Farm Bureau, Licking County 4-H campers will receive a $15 discount to their camp fee, bringing the cost of each camper down to $200.
-
Children of active Licking County Farm Bureau members have the option to receive an additional $50 discount per child, bringing their camp fee down to $150. PLEASE NOTE: the parent of the child must be an active Licking County Farm Bureau member. You will need to enter your membership number during the registration process, so have your membership card ready. Grandparent, aunt/uncle, friend, etc. membership numbers are not eligible for this discount.
4-H Summer Camp SESSION SELECTION:
-
You will need to complete the session selection survey for each youth attending summer camp. Be sure to follow the link in the registration confirmation email that is specific to that child, as it will autofill some of that child’s information when you do...
-
Please review the session list found on the Camp Opportunities page linked above. We suggest you have your child make selections of which sessions they wish to attend before you start the session selection process – this will allow the process to go MUCH more quickly! All sessions have a limit as to how many can attend, so please have multiple options selected for each session slot in case your child’s first preference is already full when you complete this step.
-
Some sessions have an additional fee. Once you complete the session selection, you will be automatically redirected to the Nelnet site to pay for any session fees. All session fees will be paid in advance; no session fees will be collected during check-in at camp.
4-H Summer Camp HEALTH FORM / PERMISSIONS:
-
Because it’s not as time sensitive as registration and session selection, completing the Health Form / Permissions is sometimes forgotten. Please don’t forget that this is an important part of the process.
-
Be clear, concise and accurate in the information you provide, as it will make it easier for us to ensure an enjoyable and safe camp experience for your child.
-
Be very specific about any medical concerns that require pre-planning on our part in regard to activities, meals, etc. We will then follow up with you by phone and email with additional questions.
-
If information changes for your child, between when you complete the form and when they arrive to camp, please reach out to me right away, so that we can plan accordingly!
Closing thoughts from Lisa...
-
Review session descriptions / schedule in advance of Thursday evening. Discuss with your child what they would like to do...
-
Do the Registration survey, pay your fees, and select sessions (in that order) – then take a deep breath and know that all is well – and then sit back and complete the health form. NOTE: At that point, you deserve some ice cream and a thank you for getting your child registered for camp! =)
-
Don’t use AUTOFILL under any circumstances, other than maybe with the payment section – otherwise, you’ll register yourself (the parent) for camp, or fill out a health form for yourself (the parent), and you don’t meet the age guidelines to attend! Sorry! This will help to prevent you filling out materials two different times!
-
If an email confirmation doesn’t arrive with a minute or two, and you have internet access, check your spam / junk mail folder – IT’S THERE! If it’s not there, you typed in the email address incorrectly – or you’re checking an email account that is different from the email address that you provided... trust me! The confirmations arrive literally within seconds...

If you still do not receive it, please reach out to Adrienne at anderson.1410@osu.edu as it is likely you input your email incorrectly. Additional details and reminders leading up to camp will be sent to this email address so it is vital that we have it correct in our system.

Because of Camp from the perspective of a few famous people!
Ohio 4-H Special Needs Camp
Camp is designed with individual youth in mind and is tailored to their needs. It gives youth a chance to try new things in a safe environment while building relationships. When campers and caregivers were asked about the Camp in the past, 100% of those surveyed stated that they want to return next year and one caregiver stated, “Everyone helps all the kids have a great time. No one is left out.” Campers feel the same way – one Camper listed their favorite memory as, “Seeing all of the kids, staff, counselors & parents.”
